Our History

Helen McDorman Bahin, (Mrs. Louis Joseph) founded our chapter on November 21, 1957, in College Park, Georgia. She chose to name the chapter after her own Revolutionary ancestor. Mrs. Bahin was elected State Regent in 1976 and Vice President General in 1978.

A unique and distinguished Revolutionary Soldier from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Thomas Cobb, patriarch of a large family of prominent descendants in Georgia, was a centenarian. He maintained his active life as an agriculturist and leader in official affairs until his death in 1832 at the phenomenal age of 111 years.

Captain Thomas Cobb is the ancestor of three of the former State Regents of the Georgia State Society, NSDAR. All three of them have also served as Vice Presidents General from Georgia.
